As Kale is growing and requiring less of me staring at him throwing every possible solution into the “I don’t understand why you are crying” book, Ross and Kale and I are able to go out as a family. This weekend, the weather was disgustingly hot, and we spent most of out time sitting about in our collective underclothing drinking water or cider and watching the Olympics. However, we did manage to get our butts out of the house a few times, and one of our excursions was to visit my old VW 412, whose new owner, Travis, decided to bring it to the 17th Annual VW Show in Coquitlam.
It made me really sad to see the 412 – Travis had managed to get it running properly shortly after getting it home, so I was feeling rather nostalgic and sad about having had to give it up in the first place. Then again, I’m not sure a 1973 VW has proper mounting system for a car seat (although I bet you could install one).
I’ve decided that if ever I happen to have a couple thousand dollars (ha ahahahahahah – yeah right) I am going to buy me an old VW again. Maybe one day after Kale has gone off to university I will one day be able to buy myself a little slice of VW heaven again. There is something about the sound and smell of a 1700 CC air cooled engine that just makes me misty.
Ross was recently scanning the classifieds for a truck and camper so I suggested we could have the best of both world’s and start looking for a Westfalia.
It’s fun to dream about all the money you would spend if you had no bills and an unlimited income.
