Halloween on a Saturday 10 years ago meant getting drunk at some sleazy bar we paid too much money to go to, in full costume. I’ve been a Girl Guide, a Zamboni Driver, one half of a set of twins with Ross, a dead prom queen, a ninja, and many other well thought out and well planned costumes. Halloween on a Saturday this year meant walking around a friend’s neighbourhood with a group of hyped up kids at 5PM and taking lots of pictures.
Kale was an adorable red dragon, his awesome costume a hand-me-down from our friends Will and Bree and their son Wesley. Wesley was a knight, and a very cute one at that. I was pleased that the shield we bought Wesley from the Coombs Country Market was well received.
The dragon suit fit Kale perfectly, and like a lot of well made kids costumes, was warm enough that he didn’t need much more than a t shirt and leggings on underneath.
He didn’t really understand why we were doing what we were doing, but he got it fast enough after watching the older kids a few times and realized that HOLY COW THIS IS SUPER FUN. You climb the stairs up to the house, you stand looking adorable smiling at people, and they hand you TREASURE! and then you scamper back to Mama and Daddy and put the treasure in your loot bag. Rinse, repeat.
The part Kale doesn’t know about is the part where Ross and I gobbled all his loot after he went to bed.
Kale also had a playdate with his friend Bonnie on Friday. How pleased does Bonnie look?
There was lots of tail at the playdate.

How absolutely adorable is that?
Too cute! We skipped Halloween this year. The Mister is in the throws of recovering from H1N1, I’m probably getting it, no kids ever come to our door and Moira is in bed by 6 p.m. The Mister did throw some WagonWheels off the balcony while he bbq’ed our dinner but that was it. So thank you for sharing pictures of the adorable Dragon Kale – seriously, that is an awesome costume.
You must be saving these. They will be real special when he is in his teens. It’s what moms do. You know!!!!!!
They are so cute. Bonnie on the other hand does not look impressed but she sure is cute.
