#Best09 – Best of 09 Challenge – Conference or Workshop

Workshop or conference:  Was there a conference or workshop you attended that was especially beneficial? Where was it? What did you learn?

Let’s talk about the one that got away. Not too long ago, I was invited to attend an all day workshop / conference about building better neighbourhoods. It was sponsored by Kids New West, was FREE, featured childminding if required (although they did admit that a young’un like Kale might be challenging so I had arranged for Ross to be solodad that day), and featured Jim Diers, an activist and proponent of  participatory democracy.

And the day before the conference, I made the decision not to go because I was sick. I’m really trying to learn to say no when I’m not in the best shape, in the hopes that I get better quicker. The whole “sick” thing has been happening a shade too frequently in this household lately, a fact that drives me nuts. But I felt it was a smarter move – besides, I didn’t want to contaminate the whole workshop.

I was told the conference was life changing and enlightening.

Wow, I sure picked a good one to pass on.
