December 13 What’s the best change you made to the place you live?
In preparation of us listing to sell our townhouse, we’ve:
- tiled the bathroom
- painted almost all the house (it’s almost done)
- bought some new decorative things, like throw pillows and new towels
I am simply amazed at what a difference a fresh coat of paint makes. A long time ago, my roommate and I used to randomly decide to paint our bathroom. It was a teeny bathroom, with vintage white washstand, toilet and tub, and those tiny octagonal white ceramic tiles. It was an idea bathroom for repainting – a gallon of paint was more than enough and everything always matched. Far be it for us to paint it, you know, lavender, or maybe goldenrod. No, we chose two different colour schemes: pumpkin orange, and when we tired of that, navy blue with silver fleur de lis stencils. I pity the person who had to paint over that.
Anyway, Ross and I chose no such colours – we chose an all over colour called Artichoke Blossom which is a totally ridiculous way to say light butter yellow. We painted one wall in the bedroom Reykjavik, an icy slate blue, and one wall in the open concept living room / dining room area will be Moody Sea, a mossy green with a hint of blue. They’re all Sico colours, but are apparently impossible to link to on the Sico website.
I am looking forward to moving into a house, and I think one of the first things I am going to do, is paint the whole thing. Except maybe this time I’ll hire a painting company so that it doesn’t take 6 months.
