(Note: this used to be a page on my blog, and I’ve converted it to a post with the same date.)
Here are some of the books I can safely recommend. I’ve categorized them into sections. Please note, if you buy any of these I get a miniature amount of money in Amazon gift cards in return. Don’t feel obligated – I got most of them as gifts or from the library myself, but if you’re buying the books new, consider following these links.
Pregnancy and Kid Raising:
I’m Pregnant Revised – I found this book incredibly useful because the information contained within was Canada specific. How refreshing!
Your Baby and Child: From Birth to Age Five (Revised Edition) – this is a go-to book at our house for pretty much everything.
The Wonder Weeks. How to Stimulate Your Baby’s Mental Development and Help Him Turn His 8 Predictable, Great, Fussy Phases Into Magical Leaps Forward – I borrowed this one from the library constantly.
The Happiest Baby on the Block: The New Way to Calm Crying and Help Your Newborn Baby Sleep Longer – Harvey Karp is amazing. I saw him speak once on TV and he was fascinating.
Parenting Beyond Belief: On Raising Ethical, Caring Kids Without Religion – I read this book years ago, and frequently read Dale McGowan’s website.
